Job Description<\/strong>: Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is an innovative leading-edge college dedicated to student success. An instructor’s primary purpose is to design instruction and assessment in an engaging environment to foster learner success. An instructor continually improves the overall quality in the delivery of learning to support the achievement of college outcomes and priorities utilizing evidence to support decision-making. It is our commitment as a College to ensure that we invest the resources necessary to positively impact teaching and student success. Consistent with this commitment all new faculty are required to successfully complete the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Instructor Preparation Academy. The Academy is a structured, practical, course-based cohort learning experience during first three years of employment. Courses include teaching and learning strategies, guidance and counseling, curriculum development, assessment, diversity, and more. The details of the schedule will be made available upon hire.

Minimum Qualifications<\/strong>:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, with at least two years work experience in the health information technology field or the equivalent education and work experience for the position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Must be certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Knowledge of the operational issues of health care organizations, health care reform, regulatory requirements, reimbursement methodologies, claims and records handling, and coding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Employment is conditional on compliance with state statute regarding the completion of a Caregiver Background Check and Drug Test and the results acceptable to the clinical agencies accessed in the curriculum. Preferred Qualifications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Job Description<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Description: Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) invites applications for qualified individuals to join our faculty to support the mission and vision of the largest institution of higher education in Virginia. The primary responsibility of a faculty member at NOVA is to provide quality instruction. NOVA faculty are expected to excel in teaching strategies and classroom management that fully engage students in a classroom, laboratory, or online platform, and engage students in individual conferences and related activities. NOVA faculty help students develop their interests and abilities to their fullest capacity in order to build stronger citizens within the community. All faculty must be available to teach day, evening, and weekend classes at any of the College\u2019s campuses or off-site locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duties and Tasks: Full-time teaching faculty members are responsible for teaching courses offered in traditional, hybrid, and distance learning formats. Full-time 9-month teaching faculty positions carry a normal teaching load of 15 credit hours and 15-20 contact hours per semester. Faculty members also serve as faculty advisors, serve on division\/campus\/college committees, participate in curriculum development, and maintain currency in their discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Essential Functions: NOVA faculty are expected to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports in a timely manner; teach the courses using established texts; conduct requisite student conferences; hold required office hours; attend to assigned divisional and college duties; contribute to the development of the program of instruction; adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with college policies, procedures, and regulations; answer emails in a responsible fashion; maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization; and advise students.

Minimum Qualifications<\/strong>:
\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in the teaching field or associate\u2019s degree in the teaching field with coursework in Health Information Management, Health Administration, Health Law or healthcare related field coursework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Demonstrated experience in ICD-10-CM\/PCS, CPT, Computer Assisted Coding and of new technologies and technical concepts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Professional certification by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Qualifying degree(s) and coursework must be awarded and\/or completed by\/with a regionally accredited institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 A minimum of two years of full-time (or full-time equivalent) experience in using, teaching and\/or implementing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems; such as Cerner and\/or Epic clinical applications. Part-time experience will be converted to its full-time equivalent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
